Looking for Light

What are cyanotypes?

Cyanotypes are photographic impressions made by exposing a porous medium impreganted with iron salts to ultraviolet light. I use the chemistry of the traditional cyanotype process to create unique artworks on paper.

Why cyanotypes?

I am attracted to the alchemy of alternative processes, particularly to the depths of the colour blue offered by cyanotype printing. I rely on botanical specimens, photographs, household materials and found images to construct compositions informed by themes of memory and time, stillness and movement.
